For over a decade, my wife, Jenell, and I have called Wonewoc home. When we arrived, none of our four children were yet in high school. Now only one is left in college and the Lord has blessed us with a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, a grandson, and another grandson on the way! While not everyone in my family still lives here, we all love Wonewoc: its people, its history, and the beautiful landscape drawn by the hand of our gracious God.
Life is never perfect. There are always ups and downs, successes and failures, and unexpected twists and turns. When some of the downs and failures are due to our own sinful behavior, it makes life even more challenging. This is why God sent us a Savior and why I'm a pastor. In the midst of bad news, and there's plenty of it in our world, there's only one message, one truth, that can truly lift us up and give us hope. It's the true message of the Lord Jesus, who came to this mess of a world in order to take care of the problem that causes the mess--our sins--and give us a life with God here and now as his dear children. This will be followed by a life with him forever in a perfect world, with all who believe in Jesus and without any effects of sin whatsoever: pain, fear, doubt, despair, hunger, thirst, anger, frustration, foolishness, injury, sickness, or death.
