Who We Are

St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church is a fellowship of confessional Lutherans in Wonewoc, Wisconsin. We are a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).

God speaks to us through the Bible, which is his word. All that the Bible says is true, so if the Bible says it, so do we, even if it's not popular.

God’s Word speaks clearly and truthfully. We have a problem:

“There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one” (Romans 3:10-12).

“There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:22b-23).

“The soul who sins is the one who will die” (Ezekiel 18:4).

Just as clearly and truthfully, God tells us of the solution:

"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God" (1 Peter 3:18).

“There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:22b-24).

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:4-9).

No one likes to hear the words, "You're a sinner," but God tells us that "if we say we are without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" (1 John 1:8). Rather than trying to pretend that we have no sin, God encourages us to honestly and freely confess our sins. He tells us in his word that he forgives our sins, not because we've "come clean" or because we're really not such bad people, but because Jesus Christ, the Son of God, took the punishment for all sins upon himself on the cross.

We invite you to repent and believe this good news. "If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

If you would like to know more about what God has to say to you, words that are always true and always meaningful, at any stage of life and in any situation, then contact Pastor Snyder at revsnyder@stplutheranwonewoc.com. We have a class that normally meets Tuesdays at 6pm, but if that doesn’t work for you, we can set a time that accommodates your schedule.
