Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
— 2 Peter 3:18

Worship services are the primary time God’s people gather together, but it’s not the only time. Throughout the Church Year we review key truths of Scripture in worship as we follow the life Christ and listen to his guidance for our lives. In a Bible Study setting, we take time to focus on narrower topics—specific books of the Bible, areas of doctrine, and aspects of our Christian lives.

Take advantage of these opportunities to study the Scriptures together with others. We offer a variety of Bible study classes during the year. Whether young or old, experienced Christian or curious observer, join us as we take time to learn more of God's Word for us together.

Sunday Education Hour

On Sunday mornings Bible class is held at both campuses, beginning around 9:15. These studies are targeted towards adults and teens. Attending Bible class between the Sunday worship services is an easy way to fit more time in God’s Word into your week. Plus, there are refreshments!

During the school year, we also have PreK through Eighth Grade Sunday School at our Hillsboro Campus at the same time. Learn more about Sunday School here.

Elephants in the Room: Theistic Evolution versus the Message of Scripture

April 7–May 26

We see it everywhere: every form of school science curricula, presentations in national and state parks, educational shows on PBS and National Geographic TV channels, children’s books. The theories of evolution are set in front of us as irrefutable and unassailable fact. It can seem overwhelming for Christians who want to still hold to their beliefs in a personal God and the Bible. So what’s the “solution”? A commonly held supposed compromise is what is referred to as “theistic evolution”: accept all the tenets of evolutionary teaching and also hold that God merely “started it all.” The Bible study Elephants in the Room will help us see from Scripture how such a compromise leaves everything of evolution but leaves nothing of the gospel and God’s plan of salvation through Christ.

Catechesis—Lifelong Learning

Catechesis is a term that refers to instruction in the basics of Christianity. The word catechism refers to the content of that instruction. Even as we grow in faith and our knowledge of God’s Word, we never outgrow the basics. The Bible teachings summarized in the Catechism are featured regularly in worship and other Bible studies, but it can be helpful to take time to review them together in a Catechism class.

We regularly offer catechesis courses for youth and adults. The adult course is most often taken by those wishing to become members of the congregation, but it is open to both members looking for a review and for those simply curious about what the Bible teaches. The youth course is aimed at younger members preparing for Confirmation and their parents, to review and reinforce the Bible teachings they’ve learned in worship and in the home.
